Up To £4.2 Billion Increase In Water Bills


Starting October, responsibility for the 125,000 miles of private sewers in 10 million homes all throughout the country will never be the homeowners’ accountability.  It is now under the duties and obligations of the water companies.  This will help every household a lot in their maintenance and repairs but these changes will reflect in the new water rates.  The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has calculated that this move will cause water companies £4.2 billion over the long term.  The cost of the transfer of private sewers to water company will put an added £162 on the consumers’ regular expenses.
