After finishing off and filing your tax returns, you may have felt extremely relieved.  If it ever crossed your mind in thinking that you have filed your taxes incorrectly, what would you do?  As to the rules in filing taxes, no one can change the filed tax returns without amending it.  Before considering an amendment, you have to be sure if you really need to amend it.  The IRS does some math corrections and those unattached documents that you failed to attach may not be needed for the filing.  You will be contacted if those documents are needed.   There are also other corrections that can never be amended.
